Nothing Personal is a place to write about the world and our lives within it. The music we keep returning to. The politics that reach into our apartments. The work we want to do, the people we want to know, and the things we haven’t worked out how to say.

We think you can care about literature, an election, your rent, and someone who has stopped texting you within the same afternoon. We would like a publication that makes room for all of it.

Founded by Bence Taylor, the journal brings together essays, criticism, reporting, interviews, observations, photography, and letters. An intimate piece of writing deserves the same attention as a public argument. A question does not become less interesting because its writer has not settled on an answer.

The name is the joke.

Everything is personal. What we notice, what we believe, what we choose to tell someone else. The ambition is to be honest about that without confusing a feeling with a fact.

Reporting should show its sources. Opinion should identify itself. If we get something wrong, we want to hear about it. And when a story ends, the conversation does not have to.
